Problems caused by a weak Parasympathetic Nervous System

 

The human body has two nervous systems. The first set of the central nervous system controls voluntary functions like emotions, speech, and various motility actions. However, there are things that we have no way to control, for example, we cannot control gastrointestinal functions or the liver because it is not under the control of central nervous system. Instead it is subject to control by the autonomic nervous system.

 

The autonomic nervous system is a very interesting yin and yang combination. Yang is a sympathetic, while yin is parasympathetic. Yang mainly controls conscious actions, so when a person in a time of tension or anger, that is sympathetic system is stimulated.

 

The sympathetic system is stimulated when the whole body is uncomfortable. Therefore, a bad tempered person will have headaches, and sometimes heart problems.

 

The parasympathetic system is involved in more involuntary functions, like maintaining blood pressure, heart rate, metabolism, energy conservation and organ repair.

 

 

In short, the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system complement each other and work together to make organs function in a moderate degree, that is, a normal functional state.

 

When the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems is lost, many symptoms will arise. For example when the role of the parasympathetic system diminishes, this can lead to indigestion and constipation.

 

Originally parasympathetic system should provide a warm and comfortable rest conditions, but because its function has become abnormal, and it is still in an excited state when it should be at rest, this leads to many problems. First it directs blood to organs when they should be at rest, the blood cannot be spread to peripheral nerves, resulting in cold hands and feet. It also causes the urethral sphincter to be in a tense situation, leading to frequent urination, thereby affecting the quality of sleep. When this situation becomes chronic, it will result in prolonged feelings of anxiety and cause headaches, stiff shoulder side effects, leaving the individual in a state of uncertainty and therefore greatly affect the body's health.
